I've seen a similar topic on this list before, but perhaps my situation is different. At any rate, the two javascript solutions I looked up don't work, because the page is unknown. isn't working.
The Scenario:
On the following page, there's a link to http://coasst.org, which is auto-redirected to http://depts.washington.edu/coasst (the homepage for this latter URL is index.php):
In IE (what else?), click the "Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST)" link on the above page; once loaded, you cannot get back to the www.birds.cornell.edu/etc. page by clicking the back button (unless of course you just sit on the keyboard "back" keys!).
I don't think that "javascript:history.go(-2)" (-2 to get past the page users go to before being redirected) will work because I definitely do not want to enable this with a link the user must click. I just want users to be able to go back out of the COASST site using the back button or keyboard command.
How do I do this?
