I believe some of us were holding back on updating the last couple of Apples major updates for Leopard, specifically questioning 10.5.4, which may have had some issues. However 10.5.5 has been out for a while and I think it fixed everything. I had a Powerbook that I hadn't used for a bit with 10.5.4 on it and just did the fully combo update to 10.5.5 and the difference was huge. It seems like speed in general and responsiveness have all improved greatly. I also completed the rest of Apples updates too however. There is no question in my mind that its running better, shutdowns became almost instant and even boot speed was cut almost in half.
So for those conservatives out there still sitting on 10.5.3 or 10.5.4, it's time to go for it! I really have the feeling that Leopard truly became a mature operating system at 10.5.5.
