OT: Lightbox2 and image map caption problem
I'm trying to deploy the Lightbox2 script for an image map at this address:
http://wsg.washington.edu/calendar_2010.html
In its original state, the title element in the <area> tag holds the caption that both appears when you hover over the area (i.e., tooltip) and in the full-sized image that transitions in onclick. This works fine, but if you want to add a link to the title, when you just hover over the area and get the tooltip popup, you see the html as well— kinda ugly to look at (the full-sized image caption is fine, however).
Following several suggestions on the Lightbox2 forum, I changed the .js and html area references from "title" to "cap" and then created a much shorter caption for "title" in the area tag. For example: <area cap="<a href='http://seaglider.washington.edu/'>Sea glider</a> instruments record temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and bio- optical characteristics of seawater that help scientists understand changing ocean conditions." shape="poly" coords="25,237,71,258,106,241,117,195,29,191" href="images/cal10/ glider.jpg" title="Sea glider" rel="lightbox" alt="Seaglider"/> This works in terms of hiding the ugly code in the tooltip (you see the "title" text, not the "cap" text), but then the caption disappears completely in the lightbox image that pops up when you click the area. ?? Despite hours of tweaking, no joy in solving this, so I'm hoping some of you have used Lightbox2 and might have some suggestions.
