By and large I'd agree in principle. Not that it matters in the
slightest to Adobe what any of us think.

But there's a matter of degree.

If Apple, as rumoured, release Snow Leopard as being Intel only, then
I dare say there are those using PPC-based Macs who will complain. But
then, PPC Macs are at least 3 years old, and any Mac back to what
about 5-6 years ago is still capable of running Leopard (and Snow
Leopard will not deny users of these Macs any new features).

In any case, if you're running 5 year old hardware, you're probably
not that bothered about being at 'the cutting edge.'

And Apple do continue to release some maintenance/security fixes for
those not running Leopard.


But GL9 is what, less than a year old? It does strike me as somewhat
cynical that the GL team was probably disbanded by the time the app
was released.

Cynical but entirely predictable. They established the pattern with
LiveMotion 2.


For those who wish to persist with GL9, there are so many easily
demonstrable and repeatable bugs I'd consider Adobe might deem it the
responsible thing to do to release some kind of update. Respect your
customers and all that (or follow the Quark model and see what history
teaches you *).

But like you, I don't really expect it to happen, and from a purely
selfish point of view, don't really care one way or another.

But I will bear it in mind regarding future purchases.

After all, as PG Wodehouse wrote, "It's rarely difficult to
distinguish between a Scotsman with a grudge and a sunny day."
