It's unlikely I'll stop using Adobe's software in the near future, just highly unlikely I'll buy any more.
The only Adobe product I've bought recently is Elements 7 on the Windows side, but this is purely to facilitate client training in an environment that's comfortable for them.
The downside of people voting with their wallets - if you're not happy, don't buy anything, if you spend the cash, then don't moan - is that people like John Donaldson are made redundant.
But I suspect even disregarding CS4's 'below expectations' sales figures they'd have found an excuse to offshore his job by now anyway.
After all, what does it matter if your support staff, developers and beta testers can't communicate optimally - how could that possibly have an adverse affect on anything? Bizarre idea.
If the guys behind Pixelmator add 'save for web' features (and it's scheduled) that'll be another big step closer to 'thankyou and goodnight' for Photoshop at Flying Solo HQ.
Replacing Illustrator remains more problematic meantime. But not, I think, forever.
It would obviously be naive and/or plain dumb to believe Adobe hasn't got talented/decent people (sometimes even both) working for them, any more than it would be to consider everyone Microsoft employs is a halfwit with a terminal taste bypass.
Viewed as a 'corporate entity' though I'd probably prise my own eyeballs out with a warm spoon than pay for any more of either party's third-rate and increasingly shoddily-built tat.
What was the question again?
