Ah, but mere power or 'specmanship' or anything else to do with conventional notions of 'hifi' isn't what it's about... what it's about is perhaps better expressed here:
<http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/livingvoice/definitive.html> or here:
I've been a customer for almost 5 years. In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably say Definitive/Living Voice are also clients of mine. It's been a joy. Kevin and Lynn are two of the nicest people I've ever met in any walk of life, a sentiment echoed by anyone else I've come across who knows them. The enthusiasm which pervades the whole company is infectious, and certainly makes my life a hell of a lot easier.
My interest in music, and hifi, stretches back the best part of 35 years and includes working in retail and for the UK hifi press, albeit a very long time ago.
I've come across the work of a lot of audio designers. Some of them are very talented.
But it seems to me Kondo-san and Kevin Scott operate on a completely different level again.
I read a fantastic quote by bass player Marcus Miller on Miles Davis somewhere recently, are you familiar with that?
Roughly along the lines of how listening to a lot of top class musicians made him think 'wow, you must really put in a hell of a lot of practice to be that good.'
But the first time he heard Miles Davis, his first thought was 'yeah, I had a girlfriend like that too...'

Cheers, Rick, thanks.
