Surviving the heat (was: something else)
3. Buy an oscillating fan. Surprising how effective it is. It keeps your computer cool, too. 4. Close your drapes on the East, South and West sides of your house. 5. Turn on your furnace fan w/o the heat. Draws cool air through the house. 6. Move your work to the basement. 7. Wear shorts. 8. Drink more water. 9. Buy a window air conditioner for your office or the bedroom. 10. Shower when you get up to remove the salt from your skin. 11. Avoid coffee (unless absolutely necessary). 12. Work in the early morningstop at noonor late at night.

When it is really hot, IMO, there are only two ways to stay cool: 1. Stay inside in air conditioning 2. Stay in the water
Otherwise, you'll be burning up. Or sadly in the case of a farm worker recently, die of heat exhaustion.
Yesterday I was in Phoenix briefly, I was really surprised that it was cooler than Central CA.
