May I beg your assistance? I haven't done a lot of sites using only CSS, but I've done a couple - but this one is driving me NUTS!!
I'm really hoping someone will be able to point out what obvious, stupid mistake(s) I'm making.
The page is at:
<http://www.jentekcompany.com/kk/index.html>
and is strictly in prototype condition - the photos are all place holders; the links don't work. I'm after layout and concept.
The main problem is that the maincol div (with the table and photos) does not cause the wrapper div to extend to the bottom. Or maybe I should put it the other way around: The wrapper div does not extend down to include all of the maincol div, all of the page content. It should.
I'm sure someone will look at the style sheet and say - what a lot of garbage she's got in there! Well, that's the problem, isn't it? I'm trying to learn this stuff, I've got a couple of books, I've read examples and "how to's" on the web, tried this, tried that, and accumulated advice, examples and bits of code from here and there... but it sure ain't obvious! Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, seemingly on the whim of the various electrons involved....
This page doesn't look so bad at the moment (except in Opera where it breaks completely) - that's because I've removed the footer. As soon as I put in a footer, even though I put the footer div just before the final </div> on the page, it floats up to the top and obscures other parts of the page - so, two problems, but maybe for the sake of my sanity, we could tackle the wrapper problem first?
Have been testing in Firefox, Safari and Opera. Any advice, or source where I could go for information would be just terrific! Thank you so much in advance.
BTW, I'll be looking for someone to help with the programming and shopping cart end of this site (as you can tell, I'm no programmer!) - in the Toronto area would be specially useful.
