best way... or logistics of applying multiple style sheets
I'm in a quandry and need advise on the best or most efficient way to manage style sheets. Most of my pages are set up using tables with a few container divs. These pages all use the houleng.css style sheet I've been using for quite some time.
Recently I've started converting pages to either a 1-column or 2-column div/css style with a wrap, header, nav bar, main section, sidebar (2-col) and footer. I'm beginning to realize that with each page setup I may need a new style sheet, depending on the width of the main and sidebar and the margins/padding applied to the main content, and whether the sidebar floats right or left. If I apply a style sheet to one page and then change its measurements, it will affect all pages it's applied to... right?
I can only envision a mess, or a lot of style sheets... because I can't see a logical way to have different layouts with a minimum of style sheets. What is the most efficient way to manage site files in this situation. I'm using GoLive CS with hand coding and I'm on a PC.
This is the entry page to the site: http://www.redshift.com/~lorac/index.html
I now realize that I can clean up my main style sheet, houleng.css, because some of the classes are now in either the 2-col or 2-col-alt style sheets. Maybe I should have named it 2-col-cat because right now it's only used on the kitty-cat art page.
This is just a hobbie for me... how do you all do it, managing multiple professional sites? I certainly have a lot of admiration for all of you.
