It's good that I went to the web archive today because I didn't get the digest yesterday with the further suggestions and explainations on ems and p classes in divs.
>...you'd be better of resetting 1 em to 10 px, which is setting it to >62.5%....
Dave, thank you for the explaination of ems and resizing down to base 10. I also found a site that converts pixel to em and also a chart for relative sizing of pixel and em.
Scott, that you for the sample for a p class in a div id, and I tried it but it didn't work. I must have done something wrong. After reading the information in the links attached in your post, I now have a better idea of the smart way to design a page. Since I'm currently watching Dr Who, I think brainy references and hierarchical samples would have beem more to my taste! Although, the Star Wars references was good. Someday I just need to try a page using divs and CSS.
Since my site had been ongoing for quite some time and I have 6 separate pages of the English translaiton for the Korean drama, I've decided it's not worth the effort to give each page an id that defines the p tag. I'm better off just going with the p style in the external style sheet that governs the overall site. That way I can use the style sheet classes for headers, subheader, content dividers, etc. Live and learn...
In hindsight, I might have been better off defining the h1, h2, ect., tags for my specific use because they work in a div with a defined p style. Although I have h1, etc tags defined in the style sheet, the font face and color is not what I'm using in these particular pages, and I don't recall if I've use the h1 tag on other pages. I've always avoided the h1, etc tags in the event that someone didn't have CSS enabled. If they didn't it would turn out to be one ugly page and the intended look of the page would be nonexistent.
Is there way in GoLive CS to determine exactly where a style is used? I'm sure some of those styles are not being used and I'd like to clean up the sheet, but don't want to break pages that may be using a particular style.
So much to learn. Everyone on this list is so helpful. I thank you again...
Carol
