A couple of follow-on thoughts.

I think one of the compelling arguments against using *any* tables for
layout purposes was that even when delinked from css styling, the
tables would always render any columns as side-by-side content, which
could be a pain when viewing the content on small-screen mobile
devices, compared to the content all tumbling out in a linear fashion
with css off and no tables.

Of course, if the iPhone rendering model becomes the norm, this could
prove to be a largely moot point.

Also, has anyone here explored the options under "Display"? You
know... Table, Table Cell, Table Row, Table Row Group, Table Column
Group, etc.? It sure sounds like one could build something that is
supposed to behave like a table using these attributes assigned to
divs, but does it actually *work*?

Something to read up on or play with, on another day...
